Stolina Dobreva, PhD


Stolina Dobreva comes from Burgas and has been involved in music since early childhood. She graduated from the Lyubomir Pipkov Secondary School of Music in Sofia and the University of Music in Freiburg, Germany, majoring in classical guitar.
In 1994, she returned to the Lyubomir Pipkov National School of Music as a teacher of guitar and chamber music.
Alongside her teaching, she continues to perform concerts, researches the history of the guitar in Bulgaria, serves on juries at numerous national and international competitions and gives masterclasses.
From 2001 to 2017, she was editor-in-chief of Guitar magazine. She has written numerous articles on the history of the guitar in Bulgaria and has edited publications of guitar music. In 2012, she received her doctoral degree with a dissertation entitled The Guitar in Bulgaria until the End of the 1940s.
She has performed in Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary, Turkey and elsewhere. She serves on competition juries in Bulgaria, Romania, North Macedonia and Serbia and has given masterclasses in Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Serbia. Since 2012, she has led an annual masterclass as part of the Stravaganza Festival of Early Music, Song and Dance.
She has served as Deputy Director of the Lyubomir Pipkov National School of Music in Sofia since 2012 and as its Director since 2017.
