Nikolay Mihaylov
Nikolay Mihaylov is a teacher of classical guitar, chamber music and musical ensembles at the National School of Arts “Panayot Pipkov” – Pleven. He is the creator and organizer of one of the largest guitar festivals in Europe, Pleven International Guitar Festival. Since 2018, he has been appointed Deputy Director for Educational and Creative Activities. Every year Nikolay Mihaylov participates in a number of international festivals and competitions as a member of the jury, teacher in master classes and solo performer. During the past school year his students won a total of 23 awards, of which 7 first in prestigious national and international competitions in Bulgaria, Italy, Croatia, Romania and North Macedonia.
Nikolay Mihailov was born on July 2, 1988 in the city of Pleven. He started playing the classical guitar at the age of 14 in the class of Lyubomir Anov, and later in the class of Assoc. Prof. Alexander Pumpalov. In 2014 he graduated from the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov ”- Sofia, in the guitar class of Rosen Balkanski with a master’s degree.
During his training he created various formations and ensembles, with which he won a number of awards at competitions in Bulgaria and abroad.
His activities in film music and sound design, reflected in a number of short films, bring him international participation and awards: Seventh International Short Film Festival “In the Palace” – Balchik; Jameson Short Film Festival (2011); 13th NBU Film Festival in Sofia and others.
In 2018 he won one of the most prestigious awards of the Ministry of Culture: honorary badge “Golden Age” – seal of Tsar Simeon the Great – gold and a diploma for contribution to the development and establishment of Bulgarian culture and national identity. In the same year, Nikolay Mihaylov was nominated for the “Young Leaders of Pleven” – art category, an initiative organized by the Municipality of Pleven, and subsequently won its category.
In 2013, 2017, 2018 he was awarded by the guitar competitions in Kyustendil and Gotse Delchev for his contribution to the development of classical guitar in Bulgaria.
In 2017, he was awarded by the organizing committee of the Omis International Guitar Festival, Croatia for the high achievements of his students during the competition and master classes.
In 2014 Nikolay Mihaylov was awarded by the Municipality of Pleven for exceptional merits in the field of art. In 2015 he was awarded a diploma for the development of guitar art and a prize for the development of culture in Bulgaria by the Rotary Club-Pleven.
