Lyubomir Anov (1970-2021) is a composer, performer and guitar teacher, co-founder of the International Guitar Festival and the “Art to close to me” association.
Born in the city of Pleven, at the age of 9 he began his guitar studies with Alexander Milanov (school “Saglasie”), and three years later he became a student of Borislav Nankov (town of Lovech). With this teacher, Lyubomir fell in love with the classical guitar.
As a teenager, he played as the main guitarist in the groups “Experiment”, “Sturshel” and “Otello”, with which he won prizes at the festivals in Sevlievo, Cherven Bryag and Ruse (cities in Bulgaria). In 1992, he joined the “Excalibur” group. The songs with his music and lyrics “The Little Prince” and “Our love outlives” became number 1 for three weeks in the “7+7” ranking of Bulgarian National Radio “Horizont”. In 1995, Lyubomir Anov and Orlin Dikov founded the group “IAH”, which was the number one musical cause for both friends.
Lyubomir Anov founded the club “Live Strings” in 1995. with the aim of training young talents and popularizing the art of acoustic arrangements. For 25 years, hundreds of girls and boys from Pleven and the surrounding area have been trained in this club. Popular actor Leonid Yovchev, singer Konstantin Kuchev, classical guitarists Nikolay Mihayov, Milena Gramova and others participated. The most significant successes of “Live Strings” are the opening of a classical guitar class at the National School of arts “Panayot Pipkov” Pleven, as well as the organization of a festival of guitar art.
As a guitar composer, he has numerous etudes and pieces created for instructional purposes. He writes original music and creates arrangements for guitar ensembles.
