Guitar ensemble at the National School of Arts “Panayot Pipkov”, Pleven was founded in 2012. Its artistic director from its inception until today is Nikolay Mihailov – guitar teacher at National school of arts “Panayot Pipkov ”and organizer of the International Guitar Festival, Pleven.
With its first participation in 2014, the ensemble won an award from the Music Festival “Classical Guitar Days”, Varna, and the following year was invited to give a recital at one of the concert evenings of the festival. In 2015, the ensemble won third place in the International Classical Guitar Competition “Acad. Marin Goleminov ”, Kyustendil, and in 2017 won second place in the same competition.
In just five years, the ensemble has managed to achieve extremely high results in terms of performing arts. In 2018 he won the first prize at the Altamira International Competition in Gorizia (Italy) in strong competition with 18 teams from all over Europe. In the same year he won first prize in the International Classical Guitar Competition “Acad. Marin Goleminov ”in Kyustendil.
The band’s repertoire consists of works by contemporary composers and film music. The conductor of the ensemble is Plamen Markov. The composition includes students from 8th to 12th grade of the music school in Pleven.
