РумънияOne of the most prominent guitar teachers in Romania, Stefan Trifan, born in the small town of Roman, started playing the violin at age 6. He discovered the classical guitar by the age of 15 and began studying it professionally at the Ionel Țiganus class in the Fine Arts College in Piatra Neamț. In 1997, he began attending the newly formed classical guitar class of Constantin Andrei at the „Gheorghe Dima“ Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca, where he graduated from in 2003. In 2005 he received his Master’s Degree at the same institute and the Philosophy Doctor of Musical Arts title with “Summa Cum Laude” in 2012, under the guidance of prof. Pavel Puscas.
He began teaching in 2000 at the „Sergiu Celibidache“ Music School in his hometown of Roman, and later at the „Sigismund Toduta“ Music High school in Cluj-Napoca. He has been a full-time university assistant at the „Gheorghe Dima“ Music Academy since 2013.
Stefan Trifan is one of the most prolific guitar teachers from Romania, having many successful students. In less than 20 years, his students have won over 400 awards, with more than 100 of them being first prizes at national and international guitar competitions. He has won many prestigious awards and is regularly invited as a jury member and master class lecturer at many national and international guitar festivals.
In 2006 he founded the Transilvania Guitar Association in Cluj-Napoca and has been the executive director of the Transilvania International Guitar Festival since 2004.
